Toy Store is one of the most unconventional and original projects we’ve had the pleasure of designing recently. The investors challenged us to create a truly unique cocktail bar on the map of Katowice — in a speakeasy style: mysterious, intriguing, and surprising. An unusual challenge, but those are the ones we love the most!

Together with the investors — because that’s what the best collaboration looks like— we created a concept that takes you on a journey to the farthest corners of our imagination. Each room is unique and extraordinary, shaped by a mix of materials, colors, and the lighting that brings it to life. The entire space feels like a journey through different circles of discovery, meant for guests to gradually uncover and explore.

ToyStore is a place unlike anything Katowice has seen before. A true speakeasy cocktail bar, hidden behind the façade of an unassuming toy shop. Only the initiated know that the shelf inside the store is movable, transforming into a door to another, mysterious world. We hope that locals — and not only in Katowice — will appreciate this venue, which is completely different from what it appears to be from the outside.

Toy Store is not just a visual spectacle or an architectural surprise — it is above all a place that builds a connection with its visitors. From the moment you step into the “toy shop,” through the surprising passage into the hidden bar space, all the way to the last drink — every element has been designed with emotion and atmosphere in mind. This is a bar that doesn’t just serve cocktails; it invites play, interaction, and discovery. The spaces are diverse yet cohesive in experience: inviting, mysterious, and sometimes playfully subversive. Guests are meant to feel not like customers, but participants in something extraordinary — a bit of a show, a bit of a journey, and a bit of a well-guarded secret. Toy Store is a place remembered not only for how it looks, but for how it makes you feel when you’re there.

At first glance, Toy Store looks like a toy shop. In the weeks leading up to its opening, a plush teddy bear riding a bicycle through the center of Katowice hinted at what was coming. But inside, it’s not just a toy shop. Simply getting into it requires a bit of effort.

The cigar-laden atmosphere, beautiful women, and exceptional cocktails capture the essence of such places—an ambiance that is now recreated in the ToyStore cocktail bar. Behind its hidden doors lies the first venue in Silesia embracing the speakeasy concept, inspired by the era of American Prohibition.

The term speakeasy—literally “speak freely”—originated during the American Prohibition era and referred to places where strong alcoholic drinks were served “behind closed doors.” These venues were carefully concealed, and information about their location and how to gain entry was passed along by word of mouth.
