Nines is a unique sport restaurant opened and endorsed by Robert Lewandowski, who is currently the best Polish goalscorer.
The restaurant is located on four storeys of the historic Brewhouse in the renovated Warsaw Brewery complex.
The five-storey building, dominating over the site, amazes the visitors with its form and size, adding elegance and old-time atmosphere to the place.
Nonetheless, designing an eating place in multi-storey historic building is quite a challenge. Many aspects needed to be combined: the logistics of preparing and serving dishes, the division into zones for the guests and the employees, installations and regulations…
This is why designing the interior took almost 3 years and was carried out parallelly with the architectural design and renovation works.
The place was divided into zones: the -1 floor is a real sports bar full of TV sets, neons, and sports memorabilia. In its centre, there is a hexagonal bar with large screens, inspired by a boxing ring. The bar is surrounded with sitting zones resembling seating stands for spectators. The menu is designed so as to match the sports atmosphere of the meetings and emotions.
– The ground floor and the first floor is the restaurant, whose design refers to the sports culture, but also gives some space for those who are sports fans only occasionally. The menu is broader, and the arrangement of the tables favour meetings in larger groups.
– The second floor is an event space with the only seating stands in Poland (and probably also in the world) on which you can watch a match on a large screen.
The remaining floors are dedicated for a huge kitchen as well as the utility rooms.
The place we created is dynamic yet cosy. The vintage atmosphere of the pre-war building was contrasted with sports accents. Wherever you look, you will find references to the world of sports: the waiter trolleys are modeled on lockers in changing rooms, there are colourful accents inspired by sport clothes, geometric patterns like start and finish flags or referee shirts, and pitch lines on the floor and on the tables.
The whole place is also decorated with sports equipment: a kayak suspended under the ceiling, an installation made with shuttlecocks, or a vintage pair of skis on the wall.
The final effect was achieved thanks to the collaboration of a variety of experts. The interior, the menu, the visual communication, and the marketing needed to be consistent and one of a kind. It is even more amazing because the designing team are people who get on well with each other and who have created something we can all be proud of.
