Losteria is a German chain of Italian restaurants that has been operating since 1999. Their locations are now spread across Europe, with the highest concentration in Germany, but also in countries like Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and now also in Poland. The restaurant in Mysiadło, which we had the pleasure of designing, is the second location after the one in the Koneser Vodka Factory in Warsaw’s Praga district.

The designed location was intended to draw from the style of existing model locations in Germany. However, we were given significant freedom in creating the functional layout, selecting materials, and developing the details to give it a unique character.

The restaurant in Mysiadło occupies approximately 450m² on the ground floor of a building within a newly established shopping park. A substantial part of the space was allocated to a carefully designed back office, an open kitchen, and a bar, which we adapted to local regulations and needs based on the provided guidelines. The remaining area is an open consumer hall, in which we placed various types of seating – sofas and lounges – creating intimate and cozy zones.

The entire restaurant is designed in warm, subdued colors, and together with the lighting, it creates a friendly, welcoming space for meetings. In the custom-made furniture and elements, we used high-quality, durable materials that gracefully age over time, such as various types of wood and stone. A particular highlight is the bar countertop, made of red granite with delicate green veins.

A significant challenge was designing the impressive serving window that showcases the open kitchen and serving area. Due to the building’s specifics and the inability to suspend heavier elements from the ceiling, it was necessary to design a separate steel substructure and hide quite large columns within the structure.
